Li seldom used to produce images of scenery until she became a resident artist in two places in Taitung last year, at which time she started to experience a feeling of nourishment from the land, wind, waves, and rice fields, changing her perspective of the scenery along her route home to Hualien. For her, Hualien’s scenery represents the warmth and sentiment of family, as her father was a landscape photographer. Through her use of color in woodblock printmaking, she has reinterpreted images of scenery in her hometown captured by her father’s camera. This series of work includes both intensely colored prints and their wooden source blocks, providing a contrast to set each other off and feed the imagination.
