For the sake of his studies and pursuit of art, Yeh left his hometown of Hualien in his early years for the world’s largest city of the time, multicultural New York, where he experienced freedom and numerous possibilities for art. Upon returning home years later to the beautiful mountain landscape lush with bodies of water and vegetation and after having experienced life abroad, he felt the security and tranquility one finds in a mother, which he had been longing for, contemplating life among this scenery. Each encounter with the landscape was like a destined meeting, and whether the state of the scenery was violent or serene, it helped him understand the need for greater tolerance for all lives. This almost religious enlightenment gradually turned into the poetry and deep significance of his work.
